New Northern Ireland Egg Producers Association launches to champion local egg farmers

New producer group will support producers, strengthen industry collaboration and promote Northern Ireland's egg sector.

The Northern Ireland Egg Producers Association (NIEPA) is being launched to give the region's egg producers and businesses a stronger, dedicated voice across the local egg supply chain.

Established within the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA), NIEPA will bring producers together, share practical information, represent members' interests and support the continued development of a resilient, sustainable and commercially confident egg sector.

Northern Ireland has a long-standing reputation for quality, technical expertise and high standards in poultry and egg production. NIEPA will help ensure that local producers are better connected, better informed and better represented as they respond to changing market conditions, biosecurity challenges, input costs, welfare expectations and consumer demand.

The group's priorities will include representing Northern Ireland egg producers in policy and industry discussions, improving communication across the sector, supporting fair and transparent supply chain relationships, promoting best practice, and helping raise awareness of the value of locally produced eggs.

Membership will be open to egg producers across Northern Ireland, and NIEPA members will have access to BFREPA's technical, market and policy work. The group is designed to be practical, producer-led and focused on the issues that matter most at farm level.

The launch will take place at the Parklands Veterinary Group Egg Conference on Tuesday 29 September 2026 in Armagh.

Speaking about the launch, James Baxter, BFREPA Chairman, said: "Egg producers across Northern Ireland play a vital role in feeding families, supporting rural communities and contributing to the agri-food economy. The launch of NIEPA as part of BFREPA gives our sector a clear, united voice and a practical platform to work together on the issues that matter most to producers."

NIEPA will now begin engaging with producers, industry partners and relevant stakeholders as it develops its membership, governance and programme of activity.
